BIO Maitake

100 g

Maitake (hen-of-the-woods), or the dancing mushroom, is a very popular mushroom and is now cultivated worldwide. Traditional Chinese medicine believes in its purifying effects and has been using it for thousands of years. We now offer Maitake in the form of mushroom powder (biomass), where the dried fruiting body of the mushroom is ground into a very fine powder using a special shellbroken method, which breaks down the chitinous cell wall and releases active substances. Compared to an extract, this form has a milder effect.

Tested in the German Agrolab.

Our Maitake is grown on an organic substrate. The base of this substrate is a mixture of sawdust, organic wheat bran, fresh water, cane sugar and natural gypsum. We use fruiting bodies for the production of our extracts.

Basic Information

Maitake, also known as hen-of-the-woods (Grifola frondosa), has been highly valued in Asia for several centuries due to its enormous potential beneficial effects on the human body. Maitake contains a wide range of vital substances, most notably its high content of ergosterol, which is a precursor to vitamin D. Thanks to its effects, Maitake can harmonize human metabolism. Free from natural substances, additives, and preservatives.

About Maitake

Maitake or hen-of-the-woods, Grifola frondosa, literally translated as the dancing mushroom (this name comes from the reactions of seekers who danced with joy when they found this amazing and highly valued mushroom) is a parasitic polypore mushroom with a fruiting body that looks like a large clump, formed by a stem with up to many hundreds of fused caps. The Maitake fruiting body can reach up to 100 cm in width. It grows at the base of trees and stumps. Maitake is native to Asia and North America, but is now widespread throughout the world and is also commercially cultivated.

Maitake is popular in cuisine, it has a rich delicate flavor and a very pleasant aroma, but it is even more known as a vital mushroom used for thousands of years in traditional Chinese medicine, while "Western cultures" first described it only in 1785 by the Scottish mycologist James J. Dickson. Maitake contains many biologically active substances, starting with vitamins and minerals, polysaccharides, proteoglycans (D-fraction), phenols, flavonoids, and ending with unsaturated fatty acids.
